How to practise kindly, and where your words go
A short, plain-language summary. No legal fog.
What Release is
Release is a guided self-practice space for nervous system regulation: TRE (tension and trauma releasing exercises), breathwork, meditation and grounding.
It is education and gentle practice. It is not therapy, diagnosis or medical care, and it does not replace working with a doctor, psychiatrist or therapist.
If you are already working with a practitioner, tell them you are practising body-based exercises so they can support you.
When to go gently, or stop
Tremoring and deep breathing move a lot through the body. Move slowly, keep sessions short at first, and always finish with the grounding step.
Please check with a doctor before starting if you are pregnant, have had recent surgery, or live with epilepsy, a heart condition, uncontrolled blood pressure, glaucoma, or a history of dissociation or psychosis.
Stop and rest if you feel dizzy, faint, numb, very cold, shaky beyond comfort, or detached from your body. Grounding and support are always one tap away in the header.
Your data
Your mood check-ins, session reflections, journal notes and preferences are stored in your account and shown only to you.
A check-in only becomes visible to other people using Release if you choose to share it. Shared check-ins show your mood, its intensity and your note, if you wrote one. You can unshare at any time.
If you turn on the daily reminder, we email you at the address on your account. You can switch it off in Settings whenever you like.
The person who runs Release can access the records stored in the app for support and troubleshooting. We do not sell your data, and Release does not use advertising trackers.
If you need support now
Release cannot respond to emergencies. The Support button in the header always opens crisis lines and helplines, including 988 in the US and Canada and a directory for other countries. In immediate danger, call your local emergency number.
